New fish weir built and installed

In his report to the Club after surveying our River in April 2011 Tim Jacklin of the Wild Trout Trust recommended we construct a fish pass to make it easier for trout to ascend the weir above Church Bridge on the way to their spawning beds upstream in the Leven and Potto Beck.

This last Saturday five Club members – Andy Stott, Andy Thompson, Scott Hansford, Mark Jones and John Gifford – worked under the supervision of Richard Holmes, from the Tees Rivers Trust, to build the fish pass.

Richard had designed the fish pass, acquired the materials and pre-cut the timber ready for assembly.

The job of building the pass and securing it to the river bed was completed in 5 hours. A terrific effort.
